THE BLOG INTERVIEWS: Artist Row’s Amy Schwartz, 2D Mixed Media

What artist’s career do you follow?
I follow several artists, namely James Jean, Esao Andrews, Chet Zar, John Dyer Baizley, Chiharu Roach, MissMonster, and many others.

What artist have you traded art with over the last year?
I’ve done several print trades and even traded a few originals this year.

How is your art inspired by nature?
Nearly all of my work deals with animals, natural spaces, and animal skulls… plus, I work on wooden panels. It may be weird nature, but it’s nature all the same.

What is the most difficult part of your art process?
Brainstorming, researching, and coming up with ideas. Sometimes new works birth themselves, and sometimes they take a bit of persuasion.

What is the range of prices that you charge for your art?
I try to keep my work affordable. I think art shouldn’t be restricted to only the most affluent, so I tend to keep my pieces around $40-$300, with the exception of my large pieces. I keep my prints around $15-$40 for those folks who just want something bizarre for their walls.

How can someone follow you on social media?

Do you know an artist that would be perfect for exhibiting at Moss Rock Festival? And why?
It would seem as though all of the locals I’d recommend are already attending! It looks like it’s going to be a great show full of awesome talent.
