I’ve lived in Birmingham, AL since 1968, when my family moved from Washington DC area. My father was a Baptist theologian, minister, educator. Since childhood, I’ve always had an interest in drawing and the arts. I attended Jefferson State Junior College and studied with Frauke Bracken. While there I received the Most Outstanding Student in Art in 1972. After Jeff State I attended the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and majored in sculpture, painting and English. While there I studied with Allen Sella and others. I transferred to UAB and continued my studies in the Arts with Edith Frock. My career carried me into the business world managing the Advertising & Marketing efforts of The Birmingham News, First Alabama Bank and other companies creating award winning advertising campaigns in print, radio and television. Most recently I was included, as one of 38 Alabama artists, in the July 2022 Watercolor Society of Alabama juried show in Vestavia. In May of this year I was awarded Best in Show – Emerging Artist at the Mountain Brook Art Association Art Show.
