Turner Hull

My name is Turner Hull and I am an artist out of Birmingham, Alabama. I was born and raised in Birmingham until I left in 2014 to attend the University of Mississippi for undergrad (Hotty Toddy!). And for the past five years I have been lucky enough to turn a lifetime passion into a full time career! My whole life, I have been surrounded by art, artists, and creatives of many kinds. Growing up in a family of artisans (both grandmothers, my aunt, and my mother), art was always in the foreground of my life. I’ve seen up close the ways that art influences lives and touches those around you. The joy a person gets from feeling seen in a painting, the laughter from feeling called out by the art’s narrative, the connection it brings when you get the response of “oh, me too”. I also know how much joy art brings to me as I get to create and express and my biggest goal is to have that portrayed in my creations and then given to the viewer. I want the viewer to feel the feelings that I have undergone while creating that piece. My motto is that “Fine Art Can Be Fun Art” and I believe it to my very core. Being exposed to hyper realism, abstract expressionism, 3D sculpture and design through the years by both family and friends, I have seen how the only rule in art is to break the mold. It’s what has influenced my mixing of medias and created my style today. It’s also what has given me the freedom to change my style as I change. Not box myself into one corner of the art world. But no matter the change, there will always be the unifying theme that Fine Art Can Be Fun Art.
