The Kentuck Red Dog Potters is a collective of clay enthusiasts creating on the Campus of the Kentuck Art Center, 2016 5th Avenue, Northport, AL 35476. Works, all stoneware ceramics, vary and include sculpture, functional pottery, figurines, jewelry, and other works of art. All pieces are completely hand made from lumps of moist clay. Some members dig their own clay from local sources while others purchase natural stoneware clay from other sources. Some members have art degrees and have been involved in the arts throughout their lives. Some are relative beginners in the art world.
The Kentuck Red Dog Potters perpetuate the art and craft of pottery as a community of artists of all levels who learn, collaborate, and create in a cooperative work space. The Potters engage the community and develop appreciation of the arts through classes, demonstrations, and displays of members’ work. During the past four years, the Red Dog Potters have participated in several juried and non-juried art shows in the Southern USA.
