Kellie Hastings

Kellie Hastings is an artist living and working off of the Gulf Coast in lower Alabama. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Alabama and her Masters of Fine Arts from Kent State University. In my work, I try to find a balance between craftsmanship and showing evidence of the makers hand. By hand drawing elements of repeated patterns, I create order out of scribbled lines on the surface of an object. Clay gets methodically pinched to create an even silhouette. I also enjoy playing with patterns and motifs in my work finding a balance between playful and melancholic at times.
