In the words of Jessica H. Cox
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I learned at an early age the importance of spending time in nature. Many of my pieces are explorations of nature and memories of being a child in my grandmother’s gardens. At the age of nine, I relocated with my family to the Gulf Coast where my first true love became the ocean. As a college student, I began painting and refinishing furniture and this is when I first fell in love with paint.
I earned a B.S.B.A. from the University of West Florida in marketing, but following my passions I became a self-taught artist. I use many different mediums, such as oils, acrylics, and graphite that land on both canvas and paper. I enjoy mix media because of the freeness it renders.
Now happily residing in Birmingham for the past year and a half, you can find my artwork on exhibit at Arceneaux Gallery in Homewood. I hope you enjoy my art.
