Heather Kathleen Art

I am an artist that has a background in fashion and illustration. I have fused my illustration with mixed media. I love to mix acrylic paint, watercolors, markers, pen and crayon, fluid acrylics, papers of all kinds. South Africa is the country I was born and raised in. I was surrounded by parents that were artists, so was exposed to art from a young age in different genre – painting, music, dancing. I moved to the United States in 1993.

Color and flowers are heavily featured in my artwork. I love flowers and how strong they are, even though they are fragile. Each women that I draw is as unique and beautiful, as each flower is. My abstracts are an expression of my love for shapes, form, color and free form! I don’t have to think too hard about what my color theme or shape theme is going to be. I have traveled too many places, and get my inspiration from everywhere I go.

I love to paint every day and I continue to study books, and do everything I can to learn new ways to express my artwork. Many of my art pieces are in Alabama Goods gift stores in Hoover and Homewood. Various galleries here and in South Carolina. I have done the Mountain Brook shows several times. I put my art on pillows and tote bags, which have proven very successful.
