17th Moss Rock Festival Poster Design & Featured Art by Jane Marshall
Fall is almost here! So time for another Moss Rock Festival (MRF) reveal. Recently, Birmingham’s Jane Marshall was announced as the Featured Artist of the 17th annual fall festival returning to the Hoover Met Complex November 5-6. Today we’re unveiling the actual art piece and the 2022 poster design.
We looked at a multitude of great options from her body of work. Although there were many to choose among from painting to ceramic to printmaking, it was one of her prints entitled “Michigan Creatures/Turkeys” that was eventually and fondly selected to be showcased on the poster and 2022 festival marketing campaign.

Jane’s practice of printmaking has heavily influenced the work she creates in other mediums. The marks and carvings and textures she puts into her printmaking woodblocks’ landscapes and animal muses are also found in her ceramic work. The woodblocks themselves even evolved as the surface of her beautiful and colorful woodcut paintings. So, we thought a print was a fitting choice for the poster’s featured work.
Over the years, MRF has featured many animals and wildlife subjects on its posters. This will be the first year for the turkey to be spotlighted, a family of turkeys as seen from her summer home in Michigan. Gobble gobble!
