What artists have influenced you?
Kiki Smith, Kuniyoshi Utagawa, Walton Ford, Arthur Ganson
What exposure to art as a child influenced your career path?
In Japan, everyone has to take art classes in school. I can remember being drawn to purple. I just made everything purple. My mother told me to keep doing even though my teacher thought something was wrong with me.
As an artist, we know you create. But what style of work do you like to collect? Do you have a favorite piece that you must glance at on a daily basis?
I like to collect animal skulls and models of anatomy. I can’t afford the artists that I like.
What kind of work will you be exhibiting for sale at Moss Rock Festival and how was it inspired by nature?
Acrylic paintings of animals and insects tangled in the hair of a girl. They symbolize the connection between the human mind and nature. I love animals and insects, and how they correspond with human behavior.
