Once we unload the truck all of the electronics are separated by type. Monitors by size, shape & stacked on pallets for shipment. Cell phone & land phone equipment are all separated. Computers are palletized by style & if the hard drives need to be destroyed in order to protect your information those are removed & crushed at once. The printers & copiers are “cleaned” so that the plastic, metal, wire & cartridges are all boxed individually! The computers are then broken down & the components are boxed as follows:
- memory (by speed)
- power supplies
These components are all weighed & sent by tractor trailer to various companies who actually shred & separate the circuitry & re-use the plastic materials to make more circuit boards.
- Battery Back-ups (wire, metal cases & batteries separated)
These components are weighed & sent to recyclers in the area, shred, melted & made into pipe.
***we have recycled more than 5 million pounds…saved from the landfill!!!
